Chelsea played out a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace in their Premier League opener. It is not the start many would have wanted and the new arrivals clearly need some more time to get used to life at Stamford Bridge. Meanwhile, as Enzo Maresca focuses on finding solutions, the club management is busy ensuring the completion of the transfer business for the summer.
In terms of arrivals, the deals for Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho are yet to be pushed over the finishing line. And the major reason for that is Chelsea’s failure to find new clubs for players like Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson.
While the Frenchman’s future was somewhat already decided before the start of the summer, the Senegal international has become available only recently following the acquisition of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro. He is believed to be keen on a move away.
Both these individuals have attracted interest from potential suitors, but a concrete offer is yet to be tabled for either of them. At a time like this, a new club has reportedly set their eyes on Jackson.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Premier League clubs and AC Milan are informed on Jackson’s situation. But nothing is advanced yet.
Jackson had another subpar season in the last campaign, in which he scored just 13 goals for Chelsea in all competitions despite being their primary striker. Moreover, Delap and Pedro both impressed in the Club World Cup, so they are seen as higher up in the pecking order currently.
Apart from AC Milan, a huge number of other clubs have also been linked with Jackson, including Newcastle United, Manchester United, Inter Milan, and Napoli, to name a few. He was suspended for Chelsea’s matchup against Crystal Palace. Nevertheless, both the new faces, Pedro and Delap, got their Premier League debuts in the Royal Blue jersey but were not able to find the back of the net.
