Report: Bukayo Saka Arsenal injury timeline ‘revealed’ as Liverpool get major title race boost…see more

Bukayo Saka is almost certain to miss Arsenal’s Premier League clash against Liverpool next Sunday after suffering a hamstring injury in his side’s win over Leeds United on Saturday.

The 23-year-old, who missed four months of last season with a similar issue, was substituted just eight minutes into the second half of his side’s 5-0 win at the Emirates after complaining of an issue in his left hamstring.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Mikel Arteta said that although the forward’s injury was not the same hamstring as last season, it was “not good” eight days before his side travels to Anfield to face the Premier League champions.

“And Bukayo had to come off after sprinting and when he was wrestling with the defender, he felt something in his hamstring, I think,” said Arteta. “It is the other side, but it is still not good.”

Depending on how serious the damage to his left hamstring is, the England international could be sidelined for anywhere between two weeks and three months.

According to the Physio Scout on X, Saka’s injury is likely to be a grade one or two strain, which will probably leave him sidelined for between two and six weeks.

If that is the case, the forward, who scored his second goal against Leeds United on Saturday, would miss games against Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City, Newcastle and West Ham. He would also miss the Gunners’ first games of the new Champions League season.

Martin Odegaard could also miss next week’s visit to Anfield as he was replaced by Ethan Nwaneri in the first half after complaining of a shoulder issue.
