Breaking News: Former Gunner’s return to Arsenal confirmed on social media…see more

Remy Mitchell’s return to Arsenal has been confirmed by an unlikely source, with six-a-side football competition Baller League announcing the player’s comeback.

Following a month of so of speculation about his situation, Remy Mitchell’s return to the Arsenal u21s was confirmed by Baller League on social media on Saturday.

Mitchell association with Baller League comes from playing in their six-a-side football competition earlier this year, representing YouTuber TBJZL’s team alongside another former Arsenal academy player in Henri Lansbury.

To add further credibility to the announcement, Mitchell himself then shared the post on his own Instagram story. The player then shared a picture from the stands ahead of Arsenal’s first-team game against Leeds United later in the day.

Despite being pictured in training back with the Arsenal academy, Mitchell is yet to appear in a competitive squad for the u21s. But the goalkeeper did face Young Violets Austria Wien in a pre-season friendly for the Gunners in July.

That inclusion was yet another sign that Mitchell has rejoined the club, having also been included in the academy photocall earlier that month.

The goalkeeper has taken the number 47, and the Premier League are expected to officially confirm his comeback when their squad lists are released at the end of the transfer window.

One possible explanation for Arsenal re-signing Mitchell is that he’s still currently classified as an u21 player. That means he wouldn’t take up a senior squad spot, but could still be used if needed.

Karl Hein has already gone out on loan, and perhaps the likes of Tommy Setford or Lucas Nygaard could follow if Arsenal have sufficient backup options.

Mitchell’s previous spell with the Arsenal academy ended in 2022, after he joined Swansea City. He’s since played for Haringey Borough and Aylesbury United, before making his comeback in north London.
