Santiago Gimenez has revealed that Luka Modric gave all his new AC Milan team-mates a gift instead of having to sing an initiation song.
Modric’s arrival on a free transfer from Real Madrid was greeted with a lot of excitement and rightly so, given what he has won in his professional career, including a Ballon d’Or.
He has been placed quite literally in the centre of Massimiliano Allegri’s tactical plans as the middle piece of a three-man midfield, and he has continued to play at an elite level despite being 40.
Many team-mates have already spoken of his human qualities too, though. Modric is leading by example in the dressing room, as Santiago Gimenez also confirmed during an interview on ‘Jorgio & Rubio’.
“We arrived at our dressing room and each player had the new iPhone in his place, Modrić gave it to us. He bought each of us a phone. When a player arrives at a new team he has to sing in front of everyone. Instead of singing, he decided to buy everyone phones,” he said.
