Former Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly has claimed that he is very happy now playing his football for Al-Hilal.
He told SSC Sport via Al-Hilal News that he is feeling good being one of the better players at his new club since leaving the Blues.
There was plenty of excitement revolving around Koulibaly just 12 months ago after he had finally made the much-anticipated transfer to the Premier League.
However, it soon became clear that he was struggling to live up to the hype. He had numerous tough moments at Stamford Bridge which coincided with the Blues enduring a terrible season.
It didn’t take long for the Senegal international to no longer be an undroppable player in the squad, and he found himself being rotated alongside the other defenders in the squad.
Just a year into his career at Chelsea though, they received a decent offer from Saudi Arabia to move him on and get back a relatively strong fee.
He has now claimed that he is really enjoying his time with Al-Hilal.
He said: “After we scored, the game became easier for us but we have to keep going. Overall, it was a difficult game for me because it was my first game in ten days due to injury.
“I feel good, mentally and physically. Very happy to be here and play for these supporters. I will give them my 200 per cent because they deserve it.”
It was likely to be a season on the bench for Koulibaly if he did remain in West London. This is due to the return to the club for Levi Colwill, who has just received his first call-up for the senior England side.
