Michail Antonio believes a superstar at Liverpool wants to leave Anfield right now.

Liverpool fans will hope Antonio is wrong about Salah

Michail Antonio has claimed that Mohamed Salah is now ready to leave Liverpool for Saudi Arabia having had an offer rejected in the summer.

Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, the West Ham striker made the assumption that Salah was ready to make the move to the Middle East and to quit Anfield.

Salah was subject to a Premier League-record offer from Al-Ittihad worth a reported £125m, with Liverpool rejecting the bid due to how late in came in.

With a second move expected in January, there’s every chance that Salah leaves Liverpool in 2024 for a life-changing move to the Middle East for a Saudi Pro League side.

Yet Antonio thinks the winger was ready to leave this summer, with the striker saying: “He didn’t turn that down, no way. He was locked up and the Reds had put that red arrow across: ‘You are not going anywhere’.

“He did not stop that at all. To be fair to him, he didn’t kick up a fuss and let them do what they were doing. But I know for a fact that he was ready to go.”

The football world is a small one in isolation, with rumours running amock amongst the players themselves on what’s happening in the transfer business.

And for Liverpool fans, they will be hopeful that Antonio is wrong about Salah, with everything we know so far indicating that the attacker did not want to move to Saudi Arabia this summer.

Indeed, perceptions can be skewed, though, and there might be a case that Salah did want to leave for the Middle East, with 2024 expect to shine more light on the saga for the Liverpool winger.
