How Galatasaray got ready to play United away

Manchester United’s upcoming UEFA Champions League opponents Galatasaray were in action on Saturday, with their Turkish Super Lig fixture against Ankaragucu kicking off moments after full-time in our meeting with Crystal Palace.

Okan Buruk’s men were unbeaten in their opening six top-flight fixtures, recording five straight wins following a goalless draw in their first game, at Kayserispor.

But it looked like that record might be in trouble, when Renaldo Cephas struck just after the break for the 12th-placed visitors at Rams Park.

Wilfried Zaha, who will, of course, be looking forward to a return to M16, had other ideas though.

The former Crystal Palace man equalised eight minutes later, firing into the roof of the net after superbly slaloming through the Ankaragucu defence.

A Hayrullah Bilazer own goal 20 minutes from time then put the Istanbul side ahead and Galatasaray saw out the victory to move four points clear at the top of the table, ahead of Fenerbahce’s game against Rizespor on Sunday.

Galatasaray are above United in our Champions League group, after two late goals salvaged a 2-2 draw with FC Copenhagen on matchday one.

Erik and a yet-to-be-confirmed United player will preview Tuesday’s Group A fixture when they sit down for the pre-match press conference at Carrington on Monday.

The media are due to ask questions from 12:00 BST and you will be able to watch the briefing live on MUTV, ManUtd.com and in the United App.

United will hold an open training session at 13:30 BST and that will also be streamed live across our channels.
