The Reds may not have been able to take three points from their final Premier League match before the international break, though they remain firmly in the mix with Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Manchester City. The break has prompted early discussions about title-winning credentials with plenty more reaction to come.
Meanwhile as there is no on-field club action until October 21’s Merseyside derby, the focus briefly switches towards the transfer market. Rumours suggest Anfield chiefs have made a decision on Piero Hincapie ahead of the January window whilst one former midfielder thinks a move for Joao Palhinha would be wise.
In other news, Ryan Gravenberch has been snubbed from the Netherlands national team after declining a call-up last month upon signing for Liverpool. Coaches Ronald Koeman and Michael Reiziger have explained the situation.
Liverpool ‘eye Diao’
According to Spanish publication Fichajes, Liverpool are eyeing a move for Assane Diao.
The publication claims that Liverpool would be prepared to agree a fee worth £26.9million to activate the release clause and sign the Real Betis winger.
Diao has scored three in four starts for the La Liga side during the opening part of the campaign.
Piero Hincapie decision
Three days ago Piero Hincapie’s agent revealed Liverpool’s interest in his client, explaining their efforts to sign him in summer and talks that have taken place about a future deal.
He made it clear no less than £43m would be what it takes to make Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen part ways with the 21-year-old in the January transfer window, and the latest rumours say that has made the Reds’ mind up for them.
Both Football365 and Football Insider claim that Anfield chiefs would not be willing to part with that level of money in the winter at least, so a deal halfway through the current campaign may be ruled out
