In January, the focus is understandably mainly on what might happen in the transfer market. Ideally, Liverpool would be able to find a left-sided center-back to come into the team and help out a defense that is looking light on numbers, but the chances of that happening appear to be slim. Liverpool is in a good position to fight on all fronts well into this season, just a draw away from making the Carabao Cup final and already having knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup. But getting back into the Champions League was a major priority and doing so…

Liverpool has reached its brief winter break in very fine fettle. If that were not enough, the Reds knocked title rivals Arsenal out of the FA Cup at the Gunners’ own ground last weekend. The struggles of last season are becoming a dim and distant memory, with Liverpool 2.0 having had an excellent first half of 2023/24. As he enjoys a very rare mid-season weekend off,…

Liverpool will face quite the transfer conundrum come the opening of the summer transfer window: to sell, or not to sell, Mohamed Salah? At the very least, it appears they will not be short of potential successors to the Egyptian’s throne. Jadon Sancho’s arrival at Borussia Dortmund has certainly highlighted an opportunity in January that will more than likely persist beyond the 2023/24 campaign. “Sancho’s arrival would put a lot of pressure on Donyell Malen. He could be sold immediately,” Christian Falk wrote in his latest exclusive column with CaughtOffside. “There was an idea of a swap deal with Manchester United for Sancho…

The Portuguese returned 10 goals and eight assists for Fulham from 36 league appearances during the 2021/22 season, to help the Cottagers secure promotion back to the Premier League. And while his last outing in the Championship ended in a 4-0 defeat to Sheffield United on the final day of the campaign, at this point Fulham had already made the historic trophy, lifted 18 times by a plethora of Liverpool legends in the pre-Premier League era, their own. The night Carvalho held aloft the heralded…

Arsenal have seen a £22m bid for Getafe striker Borja Mayoral turned down. The 26-year-old has struck 12 times in La Liga this season. Barcelona will consider offers for every player in their squad at the end of the season aside from Pedri, Gavi and Ronald Araujo, who are the only stars seen as untouchable in Xavi’s squad. Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney, who scored the winner against…

Centre-back linked again Jean-Clair Todibo of Nice has once again been linked to Liverpool by local media in the south of France. Regional paper Nice Matin has, among others, named the Reds as contenders to sign the centre-back. The reports described Liverpool as a “courtier” but would cost over about £51 million to sign in January. Journalist William Humberset added: “He is happy on the Cote d’Azur.” However, the report does add that “Todibo is very close to his team-mate” for France, Ibrahima Konate, which could give Liverpool an advantage over other clubs. It isn’t the first time Liverpool have been touted…

Ever since their failed bid to sign Mbappe from Monaco in 2017, the Reds have been touted with renewed moves for a player who never appears happy at PSG. The 25-year-old, who is undoubtedly one of the best forwards in world football, seems to be involved in a saga over his future every transfer window. Liverpool are always pitched into the running along with Real Madrid, but Mbappe has invariably stayed in Paris, and most recently signed a new contract with PSG last year. That deal is set to expire this summer, with the player therefore able to agree pre-contract…

The French World Cup winner still hasn’t officially committed himself to Los Blancos, and according to Football Transfers, that’s leaving a sour taste in the mouth for many high-ranking officials at the club. Moreover, it’s believed that a number of them favour a pursuit of Napoli’s €130m-rated Victor Osimhen, suggested that his is the better footballing profile for the club. It isn’t clear why the Paris Saint-Germain hit-man is still stalling on an announcement, however that could well be because the offer from Real is believed to be lower than the amount on the table a couple of years ago.…

Kylian Mbappe could well leave Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer this summer. That will naturally have every club on the planet wanting to sign him – but virtually all of them know there isn’t much of a chance. Mbappe wants a fortune in wages, after all, with only a handful of clubs able to pay anything close to his demands. There’s also a sense that he would really like to join Real Madrid, if he’s going to leave, and most clubs won’t even try to make an offer on the back of that. And yet, Liverpool are consistently linked.…
