James Maddison was absolutely exceptional for Spurs, scoring three goals and providing five assists as the club made a flying start to life under Ange Postecoglou. Tottenham were leading the way in the table. And Maddison was arguably the player of the season following his £40 million switch. However, Tottenham have had to deal without Maddison since their defeat to Chelsea due to injury. And he is not expected back for a little while yet. But with that, one of his teammates has arguably done what would have previously seemed impossible by staking a claim to be considered an even better…
Tottenham have a number of positions they will be hoping to improve in the January transfer window despite some FFP restrictions. Signing a new defender is the absolute priority, although adding depth in midfield and attack should certainly be on the agenda for Ange Postecoglou and Johan Lange. The Lilywhites have been hit significantly by injuries this season with Micky van de Ven and James Maddison injured in the same game. Spurs struggled initially without the influential duo but have improved their form as of late despite also losing Rodrigo Bentancur and Giovani Lo Celso to injury. Ahead of January,…
Reports have been circulating around Spurs making a move for Todibo over the past few weeks. David Ornstein shared his view on the potential transfer over the weekend, while there’s also been suggestions that Manchester United could make their own move as well. Tottenham, though, are believed to have made some guarantees to the defender over his game time at the club if he was to sign. However, according to Football.London’s Alasdair Gold, Nice could hold out for a summer bidding war for Todibo due to the amount of teams who want to sign him. “Spurs have a big interest in Nice’s Jean-Clair…
The year of 2024 could prove to be a very memorable one in Alfie Devine’s young career. Joining Tottenham’s academy in July 2020 as a 15-year-old after making the switch from Wigan Athletic, the midfielder made an instant impression in N17 and it wasn’t long before he found himself in the national headlines. Initially given a chance in the team’s pre-season friendly games by Jose Mourinho, Devine was named in the matchday squad for the FA Cup third round clash away at non-league side Marine and he went on to net on his senior bow for the club. The goal saw him…
Liverpool vs Arsenal was a game that showcased exactly why both sides are in the hunt for the Premier League title this season. In an enthralling clash, both teams will believe they could have come away with more. But it wasn’t all good news for Liverpool. “It was massively overshadowed by Kostas Tsimikas’ collarbone issue,” Klopp outlined after the 1-1 draw with Arsenal. “Definitely broken, so he is out for a long time. The other issues we will have to see. It is hard for us to swallow with the Robbo [Andy Robertson] situation.” Andy Robertson is on track to…
Several Premier League clubs will go into the 19th round of matches nervous about players being hit with suspensions. Players on four yellow cards are currently just one caution away from a one-game ban – but that rule is only in effect for the first half of the season. That means after the 19th match is completed, any player who then picks up a fifth yellow will not be subjected to a ban. However, if they reach 10 bookings across the 38-game campaign, they will be hit with a two-game suspension. The 2023-24 season’s 19th match-day begins tomorrow on Boxing…
Liverpool will take their partnership with Danish beer company Carlsberg to 42 years after inking a new 10-year deal. Carlsberg, which began its partnership with the Reds back in 1992 when it took over the front of shirt sponsorship from electronics firm Candy, was the club’s principal partner until 2010 when Standard Chartered took over, with Carlsberg then becoming the club’s official beer partner. Last year the club celebrated a 30-year anniversary of the partnership, the longest commercial agreement in Premier League history, and the current deal, which still had time to run, sees the firm continue the journey with…
Liverpool have been handed a financial blow after it emerged they won’t be taking part in the revamped 32-team FIFA Club World Cup in 2025. The Reds, winners of the competition in its current form when held in Qatar back in 2019, the year that they won the Champions League, had held out hope that they would be able to participate in the money-spinning competition in the USA in two years time if the UEFA coefficient would be taken into consideration. But at a FIFA Council meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, over the weekend, where this year’s competition is being held,…
The injury issues continue to mount for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp. Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Anfield with Arsenal saw Kostas Tsimikas and Luis Diaz both withdrawn through injury, placing even further pressure on an already strained squad. Tsimikas’ setback has ensured both of Liverpool’s senior left-backs are now sidelined, with Andy Robertson yet to recover from his shoulder issue. Diaz looked to have aggravated a past problem with his knee, though it remains unclear at this stage whether the Colombian will be forced to endure a period of the team as a result. Below is a round-up of those currently…
Liverpool missed the chance to go top of the Premier League table at Christmas as it drew 1-1 with Arsenal on Saturday evening. The Gunners threatened to open up a commanding advantage in first place when Gabriel headed them in front after just four minutes, but Mohamed Salah thumped the host level moments before the half-hour mark. The result keeps Mikel Arteta’s side a point clear at the top of the table, with the Reds ahead of story-of-the-season Aston Villa on goal difference. The Villans themselves could have enjoyed the festivities as league leaders, but they had to rescue a…
