Vinicius Junior’s recent injury came as a major blow for Real Madrid. The club are already lacking in depth all over the pitch, but especially in the forward areas. With Karim Benzema leaving the club at the end of last season and no world-class replacement being brought in for him, the Brazilian is the best source of goals that Los Blancos have right now. Jude Bellingham has stepped up to the plate for sure, scoring five goals in four appearances for Real Madrid so far. But other than him, it is hard to see another reliable goalscorer in the team…
The VAR audio from the decision to send off Virgil van Dijk at Newcastle has been released. The defender was shown a red card for his challenge on forward Alexander Isak after less than 30 minutes of Liverpool’s eventual 2-1 win at St. James’ Park. As part of a new Sky Sports series, Match Officials: Mic’d Up, the discussions between on-pitch referee John Brooks and VAR Stuart Attwell have been made available to the public. The referee was certain the challenge warranted a red card from the beginning, but checks were made to ensure the forward hadn’t strayed into an offside position. Brooks could be heard on…
The Reds may need to be on the lookout for a new forward soon, as the Mohamed Salah exit rumours continue to swirl. And according to journalist Neil Jones for Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing, they have previously scouted a number of players in Salah’s position, including Chiesa. “If I look at players Liverpool have liked previously, none jump out now as obvious signings [to replace Salah],” he explained. “Bukayo Saka would be virtually impossible to get out of Arsenal, while Son Heung-min’s age makes him a no-go. “Jarrod Bowen probably isn’t at the level required, whereas the likes of Leroy…
Liverpool had a good summer transfer window and an even better start to the season. Although they were on a tight budget, the board did well to recruit in the right areas and avoided losing their best players. Touch wood, Saudi Arabia leaves Mohamed Salah alone. However, the rumours which link Salah away should come as a reality check to Liverpool. Even if they don’t lose Salah now, the time is near. He isn’t getting any younger and clubs aren’t going to leave him alone in January or next summer. Therefore, Klopp must have his logical cap on and consider his…
A shocking revelation has come out which revealed Jurgen Klopp’s true thoughts about this Liverpool striker. While overall, the focus was on signing midfielders in the summer, the Reds were reportedly willing to replace their striker too. That’s right, according to Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool were open to letting go of their Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez, to bring in Joao Felix. However, what stopped the deal from being pursued was that Felix, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Chelsea, rejected Liverpool, Manchester United and Aston Villa, as his eyes were only on Barcelona. As a neutral fan,…
Liverpool are in advanced talks with Nike over an extension to their kit manufacturer deal that will be an uplift on the current £70million-a-year deal, sources have told Football Insider. The Reds have been partnered with the US-based sports brand since 2019, but the two parties have entered the final year of their current agreement. There is an eagerness from both parties to extend their agreement given the commercial success of their partnership over the past four years. They have collaborated on a number of successful projects since signing the agreement, including a merchandise launch with Liverpool minority owner LeBron James.…
It seems to last longer every year but, finally, the focus is fully on football. With the summer transfer window closed, there was plenty to reflect on for This Is Anfield and The Late Challenge’s podcast hosts, Gareth Roberts and Paul Cope. Speaking on Wednesday’s show, the pair agreed that Liverpool’s window has had more positives than negatives, but there was a nagging sense that the Reds didn’t quite push the boat out. Roberts explained: “I’m not standing outside Anfield with a pitchfork about how it’s gone, but I do feel it could have gone better. “You’ve got to have a…

The incident, which took place during the first half of the match, has sparked debates among fans and experts alike. In an effort to shed light on the decision-making process, audio recordings of the match officials discussing the incident were made public on the new Sky Sports’ “Match Officials: Mic’d Up” show. A judge considered Barnes’ case at a hearing in a specialist court in London which the star did not attend. Judge Catherine Burton was told by an official from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) that Barnes owed £238,000. The judge made no orders and said the case would be reconsidered on 29 November. Barrister Nathan Webb, who represented Barnes, told the judge his client “just” needed time to pay and asked for an adjournment. He said Barnes was employed by Liverpool FC “on a salary of £200,000”. “Mr Barnes is very well and able to pay,” Mr Webb told Judge…

Teams in the Middle East are still in a position to bolster their respective ranks, meaning that Liverpool’s resolve continues to be tested.
