Good news for Claudio Ranieri as Roma kick off preparations for the highly anticipated Derby della Capitale. Following last night’s 1-1 draw with Juventus, Roma regrouped earlier today at Trigoria in order to begin training for the derby against Lazio. Ranieri was once again able to count on Alexis Saelemaekers and Devyne Rensch – both of whom were back in group training and will be fully available to the veteran technician for the derby. Meanwhile, Saud remains out after picking an injury during international duty.
Roma are reportedly considering sending Lorenzo Pellegrini to Milan in order to complete a permanent transfer of Alexis Saelemaekers. To secure Saelemaekers from Milan, Roma are willing to sacrifice their captain, writes today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport. The newspaper claims Pellegrini could be included as a counterpart in a deal for Saelemaekers. Pellegrini’s contract will expire in 2026, while Saelemaekers’ with Milan in 2027. However, finding an agreement with Milan will be complicated as several other clubs have expressed interest in Saelemaekers.
The presence of Erik ten Hag at the Stadio Olimpico in the match against Juventus did not go unnoticed. Just as the Dutch manager’s presence at Trigoria made the rounds across Italian news media, documented by the photo with Devyne Rensch, whom he previously coached at Ajax. According to Corriere dello Sport, it was only a courtesy visit, with no interest from either side. Ten Hag, who was fired by Manchester United on October 28, is on the hunt for a new bench, which however – barring any surprises – will not be that of Roma. It is not the…
Former Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan did not mince words when looking back on Jose Mourinho’s tenure at the club. In a recent interview with ControCalcio, Nainggolan discussed the upcoming Derby della Capitale and Roma’s chances for Top 4. “Mourinho? Last year I went to see Roma-Salernitana. If I had a son I would have taken him away at the end of the first half. They had won the Conference League but Roma were simply unwatchable.” “The Derby? Lazio is coming off an important victory but the Giallorossi are the favorites, let’s be clear.” “Roma have been unbeaten for many games.…
Milan are a club that have always put youth development at the forefront of their aims, as shown by the Milan Futuro project launched last summer. Having a second team allows for an easier pathway to senior football, as the likes of Francesco Camarda and Alex Jimenez show. Speaking to the press at the Social Football Summit Snack – an event held at the Arena Civica Gianni Brera – Gravina praised Milan for the Italy youth internationals they have produced and the path they have taken. “I want to congratulate Milan. It is the club that provides the most players…
Roma legend Francesco Totti weighed in on the Giallorossi’s search for Claudio Ranieri’s successor. The former captain flew to Russia to participate in the RB Awards in Moscow, an event that raised some controversy due to the geopolitical context, but Totti decided to honor the invitation anyway. On the sidelines of the awards ceremony, asked by La Repubblica about Ranieri’s possible successor on the Roma bench, Totti had no doubts. “Ancelotti and Mourinho are the best in the world. Who would I like? We have already tested Mourinho, if Ancelotti were to think about it, then he would be welcome.”
Luka Jovic’s father confirms he received offers from Besiktas and Trabzonspor, but while he wants to stay at Milan, there might ‘not be a choice.’ The striker popped up for a decisive equaliser against his former club Fiorentina at the weekend in Serie A, only his second goal in nine appearances this season. Middling form for Santiago Gimenez and Tammy Abraham mean that Jovic is suddenly back on the radar for the Rossoneri, hoping to make an impact and earn a contract extension. His father spoke to Srpski Telegraf via Calciomercato.com about his future, confirming there were offers from Besiktas…
Former Nigeria international Obafemi Martins has advised Samuel Chukwueze to leave Serie A club, AC Milan this summer. Chukwueze has struggled for regular playing time since joining AC Milan from Spanish club, Villarreal in 2023. The 25-year-old has scored four times in 47 league appearances for the Rooseneri. The winger reportedly rejected a move to Saudi Arabia last summer. Martins believes it is time for Chukwueze to move elsewhere. “The Saudi Pro League is becoming increasingly competitive. If a good offer comes along, why not? The main thing is for him to play and become a regular starter again. Rhythm…
AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan has further fuelled talk of a potential summer transfer to Chelsea by refusing to discuss his contract impasse. Maignan’s contract at Milan expires next year and he has still not penned a new deal. Last month it was reported that Maignan had a verbal agreement with Milan on a €5 million per year deal until 2028. However, that contract has not been signed still amid talk in the Italian media that Milan are backtracking. Maignan has been increasingly linked with a summer move to Chelsea this summer in recent weeks. What did Maignan say? Following…
Arsenal have reportedly made groundwork over a deal to sign AC Milan star Rafael Leao, as per transfer journalist Graeme Bailey. After joining the Rossoneri from LOSC Lille back in 2019, the Portuguese has enjoyed a successful time at San Siro Stadium over the years, winning a Scudetto title and a Supercoppa Italiana trophy. However, he has had a difficult campaign this season and has played as a rotational option at times. Still, he has scored 10 goals and registered nine assists in all competitions. Now, speaking on soccerhuz.com , Bailey says that the 25-year-old is likely to leave Milan…
