There has never been a time before when football ownership has ever been such a hotly debated topic. Hot on the heels of failed plans for a European Super League, spear-headed by Manchester United co-owner Joel Glazer but then kaiboshed amid huge fan protests against the idea, the Glazers announced last November that they were putting the club up for sale. The subsequent 11 months have seen offers and counter-offers from the main two interested parties, Qatar-backed Sheikh Jassim and United fan and INEOS billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe. But almost a year on – and with Sheikh Jassim’s offer of…
Sheikh Jassim had bid £5bn for the club but further talks this week have broken down. The Glazer family, who bought United for £790m in 2005, announced in November 2022 they were considering selling. British businessman Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos Group was the other main bidder. Sources have told BBC Sport that Ratcliffe is now hoping to conclude a deal for a minority stake in the club, thought to be 25%. Earlier this month BBC Sport reported Ratcliffe was considering whether to offer to buy a minority stake in the club in an effort to break the impasse over the ownership situation. The Glazer…
The news comes after it was revealed on Saturday that his main competition for Manchester United, Sheikh Jassim, had pulled out of the race having a final bid rejected. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is now expected to complete a deal for an initial 25% of the club, according to The Athletic, who claim that the Glazers are “moving towards selling a minority stake” to the British billionaire. The Athletic further explained that a deal with Ratcliffe has agreed on a deal in principle with the club’s current owners, but that the full agreement will be ratified once key figures at United meet in the coming…
Sir Jim Ratcliffe is close to agreeing a deal to buy 25 per cent of Manchester United after Qatari businessman Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al Thani withdrew from the bidding process. Sheikh Jassim’s offer, which valued United at more than £5bn, was believed to be the only bid for 100 per cent of the club. But it is understood that the Qatari’s valuation was not sufficient for the Glazers, who have owned United since 2005 – so Shiekh Jassim has withdrawn from the process. The other proposal is to buy around 25 per cent of the club by petrochemicals billionaire…

Real Madrid might have received the hint that Kylian Mbappé has no desire to play the No. 9 role. This past summer, Paris Saint-Germain signed two strikers to take over the position, allowing the 24-year-old to the wing. Meanwhile, the Spanish giants are looking to replace Karim Benzema, who left for Saudi Arabia. Los Blancos did bring in Joselu, but he’s not the long-term replacement for the Frenchman. Furthermore, Real Madrid isn’t penciling Mbappé as their next striker. Spanish media outlet AS reports (h/t Le10Sport) that Endrick should take the No. 9 left by Benzema. Luka Modric has backed teammate Arda Guler to show his best to the Real Madrid fans when he finally makes his debut. After undergoing knee surgery shortly after his arrival at the club this summer, Guler suffered a fresh setback which forced his back to the treatment table last month and he is still waiting to make his first appearance of the season. Guler missed Turkey’s international meeting with Modric and Croatia earlier this week, but is now back in training and working towards making his long-awaited debut. Former Real Madrid GM Jorge Valdano insists Jude Bellingham’s success hasn’t surprised him. Bellingham is now Real’s top scorer playing from midfield. Valdano said: “He didn’t surprise me. In any case, I was surprised by his scoring level, which doesn’t have to be sustained over time, but he is a player of superior intelligence. “There are no empty spaces that he doesn’t discover, and he also has a field of action very very big, he has prominence practically in the entire field.” On Real this season, Valdano also said: “Now what we have to hope for is that one of the talents that…
