Team USA basketballer Kevin Durant watched on as Simone Biles won her ninth Olympic medal in the women’s artistic gymnastics all-around final at Paris 2024. The 27-year-old took first place over Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade who took silver, and fellow American teammate Suni Lee. Among many of the famous faces supporting Biles was Team USA basketballer Kevin Durant, who told Olympics.com’s Nick McCarvel that the women’s all-around individual final marked the first time he had ever watched the most decorated gymnast in history live. “That was nice. It’s the first time I’m seeing her live,” Durant replied when asked if he…

The Orioles announced a batch of roster moves today, activating three trade acquisitions. Outfielders Eloy Jiménez and Austin Slater as well as left-hander Trevor Rogers have now been added to the roster and the club also recalled infielder Liván Soto. One spot was opened by placing infielder Jordan Westburg on the 10-day injured list with a right hand fracture, a development that was reported yesterday. To open three more spots, they optioned left-hander Keegan Akin and outfielder Heston Kjerstad and designated outfielder Cristian Pache for assignment. Vinny Nittoli, who was designated for assignment last week, elected free agency rather than…

Sometimes the best laid plans don’t always bear fruit, like the one Jeff Stoutland hatched this spring. The Eagles offensive line coach said he wanted to identify his starting five as soon as possible. That hasn’t been possible with two guards missing time with injury. Tyler Steen twisted an ankle on Saturday and on Tuesday Landon Dickerson suffered a knee injury. Mekhi Becton was at right guard during Thursday’s open practice at Lincoln Financial Field, just as Becton played there Monday and Tuesday. At right guard was Brett Toth, who missed the first couple of days of practice with a…

During Wednesday’s Alabama football practice, the Crimson Tide’s first of preseason camp, safety Malachi Moore’s little brother was in awe. “Bruh,” Ayden Moore said to Malachi during a water break. “Welcome to college football,” the older Moore recalled saying back. Ayden is a walk-on for the Crimson Tide this season, after playing his high school football at Hewitt-Trussville. Malachi was one of Alabama’s permanent captains in 2023, and the graduate safety looks to be a key part of Alabama’s defense this season. When it came time for the younger Moore to choose a school, he opted to join his brother in Tuscaloosa. “We…

The WNBA Rookie of the Year race is shaping up to be one of the closest in years. Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark, the No. 1 overall draft pick, and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese, the No. 7 pick, lead the debate after Cameron Brink’s season ended due to injury. Historically, the ROY voting delivers a clear-cut winner. The last close race was in 2019 between Napheesa Collier, the Minnesota Lynx’s No. 6 pick, and Arike Ogunbowale, the Dallas Wings’ No. 5 pick. Collier won with 29 of the max 43 points, while Ogunbowale pulled the rest. They have each gone on to prolific careers and participated in the…

In a candid conversation on “The Gold Standard” podcast, Leslie shared her thoughts on why Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever’s star rookie, was not selected for the U.S.Olympicteam in Paris. Tiger Woods looked a little tired on his arrival at the Scottish tournament last week and now we know the reason, thanks to the explanation he gave to the British media: the news of the assassination attempt on Donald Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania. The 48-year-old golfer left Florida and did not perform at the desired level at Royal Troon, having stayed up all night without sleep, following how events unfolded in his country around the former-President and, again, candidate for the White House. “It didn’t go well for me because I wasn’t in the right frame of mind,” Woods told BBC Sport on…

Chelsea have accepted a bid from Atletico Madrid for midfielder Conor Gallagher after he rejected a new Blues contract in June. The England international, 24, is now able to negotiate personal terms after a bid of around £33m, according to sources in Spain, was accepted. Chelsea are understood to prefer the sale to a club outside of English football so have opted to accept a lower bid, rather than the £45m being discussed with Aston Villa in June. It remains unclear whether Gallagher will accept a move overseas but the Londoners are ready to sell with less than one year…
