Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown has offered his thoughts on who he thinks should win in the close race for WNBA Rookie of the Year. The winner of the award is likely to be one of Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese or Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark. ‘House of Highlights’ asked a number of NBA players, including Brown, for their thoughts on who they would choose as the league’s Rookie of the Year. Brown and fellow NBA star Immanuel Quickley both believe that Reese should be the choice for ROY. They’re not alone – with other prominent basketball figures like South Carolina coach Dawn…

After basically concluding their offseason with the signing of Spencer Dinwiddie, the Dallas Mavericks and their front office will have a little bit more free time on their hands throughout the next month or so, as most basketball-related activities are coming to a stalemate as we enter the month of August next week. Obviously this doesn’t mean that the Mavericks are completely off the clock though, as players are hard at work training for next season whilst Dallas’ front office continues to make moves within the margins to bolster the roster. After a wildly successful offseason transaction period that came off…

Verstappen was very clearly the fastest driver in Saturday’s wet conditions as he comfortably topped qualifying, but will start from 11th as he serves a 10-place grid penalty for exceeding his engine allowance for the season. In Friday’s dry running, McLaren looked well set to profit from Verstappen’s penalty as Lando Norris topped second practice from team-mate Oscar Piastri, but F1’s in-form squad were far less comfortable in the wet. Norris ultimately salvaged fifth, a place ahead of Piastri, leaving the McLarens to start fourth and fifth on the grid after gaining a position for Verstappen’s demotion. That leaves a…

France picked up a 78-66 victory over Brazil on Saturday to kick off their 2024 Summer Olympics action, and their young star in Victor Wembanyama led the way (19 PTS, 9 REB, 2 AST, 7-13 FGM). Brazil simply had no answer for Wembanyama’s incredible height, and he got pretty much whatever he wanted in the paint throughout this game. One particular highlight saw Wemby get an and-one putback layup after he missed three putbacks before that, while collecting the offensive rebounds in the process. Fans of star WNBA rookie Angel Reese were quick to note that the Chicago Sky center gets blasted by fans for making similar plays…

Armando Broja has accompanied the Chelsea first team to the United States (and played the second half last night); Cesare Casadei has not. But they could possibly end up with the same fate this season: a loan to Serie A. AC Milan is reportedly interested in signing Broja as a striker after signing Álvaro Morata to replace Olivier Giroud, who left Chelsea. The Rossoneri are huge fans of their former Chelsea players. Tammy Abraham, a former Chelsea player, has also been connected. There’s no rewards for guessing that the “only one possible formula” for this potential agreement is a loan…

Lewis Hamilton has suggested Max Verstappen should act more “like a champion” after taking a dig at the Red Bull driver’s turbulent Hungarian Grand Prix weekend. After two seasons of domination, Verstappen is starting to face stiffer competition from rivals and finished fifth in Hungary after colliding with Hamilton. Verstappen received criticism for the collision and the way he spoke with his engineer over team radio during the race — criticism he brushed off on Thursday ahead of this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix. When Hamilton was asked how Verstappen should cope with Red Bull’s recent slip in performance, he said: “You have to be a team…

In 36 days, Kalen DeBoer will usher in a new era of Alabama Crimson Tide football, replacing the legendary Nick Saban as head coach in Tuscaloosa. Coach DeBoer and the Crimson Tide will take on the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers on Aug. 31 to kick off the 2024 college football season inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. At Roll Tide Wire, we will count down the days until Alabama football takes the field. The No. 36 has not been a very popular number throughout the years so with 36 days remaining we look at a former member of the Crimson Tide to wear No. 36, Chris Jordan. Jordan played…

Milan have made tremendous progress off the pitch since Cardinale took over the club. On the pitch, however, some fans would argue that they have hit a stalemate: barely making top four in 2022/23 and finishing second by 19 points behind Inter in 2023/24 after the Scudetto in 2021/22. Given how the Scudetto season played out, this must be taken with a pinch of salt but Milan clearly want to do better, hoping that Paulo Fonseca can jumpstart the new era. Having said that, Cardinale spoke about ‘550 million fans worldwide’, with an additional 50 million in the US that they…

More than most, Caitlin Clark understands the value of achieving consistency and working hard without much respite. It is the primary reason why the Indiana Fever’s rookie sensation is not playing for the United States national team at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris — Clark needs a breather. Clark had roughly a month between the end of her historic NCAA career at Iowa and the start of what is likely to be a stellar WNBA career. The 22-year-old guard has handled the pressure and the expectations as well as she can — Clark just participated in the WNBA All-Star Game in Phoenix, after all. But as she embarks on…
