After basically concluding their offseason with the signing of Spencer Dinwiddie, the Dallas Mavericks and their front office will have a little bit more free time on their hands throughout the next month or so, as most basketball-related activities are coming to a stalemate as we enter the month of August next week. Verstappen was very clearly the fastest driver in Saturday’s wet conditions as he comfortably topped qualifying, but will start from 11th as he serves a 10-place grid penalty for exceeding his engine allowance for the season. In Friday’s dry running, McLaren looked well set to profit from Verstappen’s penalty as Lando Norris topped second practice from team-mate Oscar Piastri, but F1’s in-form squad were far less comfortable in the wet. France picked up a 78-66 victory over Brazil on Saturday to kick off their 2024 Summer Olympics action, and their young star in Victor Wembanyama led the way (19 PTS, 9 REB, 2 AST, 7-13 FGM). Brazil simply had no answer for Wembanyama’s incredible height, and he got pretty much whatever he wanted in the paint throughout this game. Texas head football coach Steve Sarkisian and his wife, Loreal, have jointly announced they have decided to file for divorce. Sarkisian, 50, and Loreal, a wardrobe stylist, made the public announcement through Instagram posts Friday night. “After many heartfelt conversations, we have decided to amicably part ways and jointly file for divorce,” they announced together. “We aim to remain the best of friends and are incredibly grateful for the love and support we have shared throughout our journey together.
