With the 2024 NFL Draft set to begin in late April, the Eagles will be allowed to host up to 30 prospects at the NovaCare Complex for a pre-draft visit. While it doesn’t necessarily mean the Eagles will draft these players — there are plenty of reasons to host prospects — it at least gives us a sense of some interest they’re showing in these players. Cooper DeJean, CB, Iowa: After suffering a fractured fibula late in the college football season, DeJean (6-0, 203) didn’t work out at the combine or the Iowa pro day. The likely first-round pick has…
As we move closer to the actual NFL draft, I try to lock in my mock process by venturing into each general manager’s headspace and hypothesizing what the thinking could be relative to draft capital, needs and the board in general. One of the best ways to get a feel for how a team might proceed is to scour its draft history for potential clues on which positions the organization prioritizes and the kinds of players that thrive in the building. Sometimes that information is right in front of your face. In my third simulation of the initial 32 picks,…
Obviously, you know how I feel and everybody feels about (offensive-line) Coach (Jeff) Stout(land). He’s going to get the best out of these guys, and Tyler’s going to benefit from that coaching. And Tyler’s also going to benefit because he’s a really good player that we took in the third round, so excited about his development, some of the minutes that he got last year, and I think that he is a great option, and we’ll see what happens.” A transfer from Vanderbilt, Steen played left tackle for Alabama in the 2022 season. After joining Philadelphia as the 65th selection…
Howie Roseman doesn’t care about mock drafts, but we do. Mocking the Eagles to draft a cornerback is so popular that this week we’re going against the grain. Only mock drafts that do not have the Eagles taking a CB will be featured. Josh Edwards, CBS OT Graham Barton, Duke Graham Barton is a Swiss Army knife that can fulfill a variety of roles along that offensive line. His long-term fit may be unknown but, for now, he gives them insurance at a variety of positions in the event of injury. 50 – DT Michael Hall, Ohio State 53 -…
Clemson men’s basketball’s historic NCAA Tournament run came to an end on Saturday night, as the No. 6 Tigers fell to the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide 89-82 in the Elite Eight inside the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Clemson was led offensively by Joseph Girard III (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls), who finished the game with 19 points, including 17 in the second half, highlighted by five second-half threes. Ian Schieffelin (Loganville, Ga./Grayson) finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds, good for his 11th double-double of the season. PJ Hall (Spartanburg, S.C./Dorman) tallied 14 points before fouling out, while Chase…
The Boston Celtics have the best record in the NBA and are among the title favorites. Their focus is winning their 18th championship and first since 2008. They have the talent, but there are still issues to sort out. Boston is not just trying to win this season. They want to build a sustainable contender around Jayson Tatum, which means improving their roster every chance they get. The Celtics will be over the second tax apron and have limited avenues to upgrade. Trades are nearly impossible, and Boston can only hand out minimum contracts in free agency.
Rajon Rondo, who has not played on an NBA roster since 2022, confirmed his retirement in a conversation with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson via All the Smoke Productions. The Kentucky product spent one season with the Sacramento Kings from 2015-16 but is best known for his time with the Boston Celtics. The Phoenix Suns selected Rondo with the 21st overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, but the guard was quickly rerouted to Boston, where he spent the first eight and a half years of his 16-year career. During that time, Rajon Rondo was the starting point guard on…
Formula 1 returns to Japan just over six months after its last visit to the country. This year, the Japanese Grand Prix takes place in April for the first time in its history: right up to last year the race was always scheduled for the second part of the season, in September or October. As a result, Suzuka has frequently crowned world champions – both in the drivers’ and manufacturers’ standings. The last two years have been no exceptions: in 2022, Max Verstappen sealed his second title at the venue, while last year Red Bull were crowned constructors’ champions. The…
Sport Tourism Canada has presented the 110th Grey Cup and 2023 Grey Cup Festival with its Prestige Award as Canada’s event of the year with a budget over $1 million. A recent Sport Tourism Canada survey found the ’23 Grey Cup game and festival generated $73.5 million in economic impact in Canada. The Grey Cup was held in Hamilton last November, with the Montreal Alouettes pulling out a 28-24 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The RBC Canadian Open golf tournament in Toronto, won by Nick Taylor of Abbotsford, B.C., and the women’s World Cup alpine skiing event in Mont-Tremblant,…
He didn’t suit up, didn’t make a tackle, or bring down a quarterback in anger. Yet, on the final day of the CFL Combine last Sunday Willie Jefferson did what he has so often done for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers: he was everywhere on the field doing his thing and dominating. Jefferson, the Blue Bombers veteran defensive end, was given a microphone and had a camera follow him around during the final practice session of the Combine as CFL Draft prospects had one final chance to impress coaches and management from across the league. And at one point near the…
