Noni Madueke is leaving Chelsea’s Club World Cup camp early to complete his summer transfer to Arsenal, according to a report.
David Ornstein reports for The Athletic that Noni Madueke has been granted permission by Chelsea to leave their Club World Cup camp in the USA and travel back to the UK for a medical with Arsenal.
With the two clubs agreeing a fee and the player agreeing personal terms on a five-year deal with the Gunners, there’s evidently a desire to finalise the transfer immediately.
Fabrizio Romano broke the news of the fee agreement between Arsenal and Chelsea on Thursday night, and he reported that the two clubs would exchange all the documents for the transfer on Friday.
Various outlets have confirmed the deal will be worth £52m after add-ons, though the implication is that the guaranteed payment is under £50m.
Personal terms were agreed in advance of fee negotiations, with Madueke prioritising Arsenal over other clubs interested in him.
Arsenal are moving for Madueke to add depth to their wide options ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, though they’ll have to wait a while to add the winger to their pre-season squad.
Even with Madueke cutting short his Chelsea campaign by a few days, it will still be August before his mandatory holiday period is over and he can link up with his new teammates.
Arsenal are still pursuing other attacking additions, with reports that their interest in Eberechi Eze is independent of their pursuit of Madueke, and ongoing talks with Sporting CP for Viktor Gyokeres.
