Baseball began Friday afternoon. The Cubs resembled a teenager who had overslept their alarm. A defensive error contributed to the loss. The Cubs were down five runs before their offence showed any sign of life. As a result, the overall outcome was a listless loss.
With a good road trip leading up to the break, it appeared that the Cubs were on the verge of returning to contention. But this is how quickly things can change. The Cubs have now dropped three out of four. That still leaves them with six out of ten. That is a good stretch. However, while attempting to change the course of your season, you require a terrific stretch rather than a decent stretch.
