Then, Inter have to reckon with the fact that they will not be fighting for the Treble this season.
An opportunity for the Nerazzurri to take silverware has vanished.
And this is not a psychological stumbling block that Inter can afford. They still have a gruelling five matches to go in the Serie A title race with Napoli – and a Champions League semifinal against Barcelona.
Therefore, Inzaghi has given the squad a clear message: Let it go.
