Sergio Conceiçao’s tenure as Milan head coach is under intense scrutiny following recent setbacks, and the club might reportedly consider the prospect of an immediate sacking if negative results persist in the upcoming crucial matches against Bologna and Lazio.
The Rossoneri directors are said to be extremely disappointed after the recent Champions League playoff elimination at the hands of Feyenoord and the latest Serie A defeat at Torino.
Their 2-1 loss to the Granata left the Rossoneri eight points behind the fourth spot, which guarantees qualification for next season’s Champions League—a primary objective for the club.
Milan’s disappointing results could lead to Conceiçao’s early sacking
While Conceiçao signed a contract until June 2026 when he replaced Paulo Fonseca in late December, Corriere della Sera reports that his position could become precarious if Milan lose further ground from the fourth place in the next week, when they’ll play the rescheduled match against Bologna before hosting Lazio.
The deal includes an option allowing the Diavolo to terminate the coach’s contract next June if Conceição’s team fails to qualify for the Champions League. However, the club could still choose to part ways sooner if results do not improve.
Milan have remained inconsistent since the coaching change, as Conceiçao’s record in his first 15 games in charge is even worse than Fonseca’s in his final 15 matches, which led to his sacking.
