Breaking news: Milan to free up over €32m thanks to six departures the figures… see more

Like every year, clubs do the maths to understand how and how many resources to invest in the transfer window, a consequence of a cost of the squad that can be lightened thanks to the farewells of those players who end their loan period or whose contract is expiring.

As for Milan, six players have departed. Joao Felix, Tammy Abraham, Luka Jovic and Riccardo Sottil have left from the forward group, in addition to the defenders Alessandro Florenzi and Kyle Walker.

Calcio e Finanza report that there has been some important space freed up, economically. Thanks to these departures, Milan will free up a total of around €32m in the balance sheet. The most expensive player was Felix, who cost almost €9m for half a season.

The second-most expensive was Abraham (around €7.4m), while third place is occupied by Florenzi, never available during the 2024-25 season and with a very heavy salary because of not being able to use the Growth Decree.

Walker – who arrived from Manchester City to try to bring leadership – was not signed permanently either. Finally, together with him, the striker Jovic (whose contract expired) and the winger Sottil, who returns to Fiorentina.

It should be remembered that these lower costs could be offset by any higher costs related to the returns of some players from loan experiences. However, on the return front, Milan will have the entire summer transfer window to work on any new transfers or new loans
