Anthony Davis has spent over a decade proving why he belongs among the NBA’s elite. From his early days as a No. 1 overall pick in 2012 to becoming an NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers, Davis’s passion for the game and competitiveness has not wavered. Just last season, he arguably had his best showing in a Lakers jersey playing a personal best 76 games while being named to Second Team All-NBA and First Team All-Defense. It was a special season particularly because there had been question marks over his longevity in the league. The former Lakers star missed 114 out of 246 games between the 2020-21 and 2022-23 seasons, sitting out nearly half of his team’s regular season games over three years. But last season, he flipped that narrative on its head and it seems he isn’t slowing down any time soon.
In the offseason, he looked positive to continue his career in Los Angeles and quashed any retirement talks. “I look forward to going on the road and being in other arenas and they’re booing you. That still excites me. Running out into Crypto, the bright lights still amaze me,” he said. He seemed set for another season alongside LeBron James, but he was shockingly involved in the trade that took him to Dallas in exchange for Luka Doncic early this month. Still, that hasn’t dulled his ambitions and he recently talked about why he wants to continue playing.
