Gbs: June the decisive month in Milan and Inter ultras trial…see more

The feeling is that next month will be the decisive one in relation to the criminal investigation into the ultras of AC Milan and Inter, a report claims.

In order to catch up on the ultras trial or if you need a reminder of what happened, we recommend reading our article explaining the case in detail. It all started on September 30, when a raid saw several leaders from the groups arrested and taken in for questioning.

A few months have passed now and there has been little news in relation to a verdict, with the two clubs – Milan and Inter – also participating in order to determine if there was any link between the leaders there and the top ultras.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the prosecutor’s office is looking at the illicit business of the ultras, with extortion on parking, ticket resale, beatings and infiltration of the ‘ndrangheta (mafia group).

The investigation was accelerated by the murder of Antonio Bellocco on September 4, 2024, with the arrest of Andrea Beretta, 49, leader of the Nerazzurri fans, who chose to collaborate with the investigators.

During the investigation, the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office activated a ‘preventive procedure’ to protect Inter and Milan as clubs.

According to the investigators, the San Siro stadium and the activities connected to it were ‘outside any legal control’ also due to ‘some organisational shortcomings’ in the ‘management of relations with the fans’.

The meetings between ultras leaders and players (such as between Ferdico and the then-Nerazzurri captain Milan Skriniar, or between Luca Lucci and the then Rossoneri captain Davide Calabria) or telephone contacts with coaches (Ferdico and Simone Inzaghi) also ended up under scrutiny.

On 11 November 2024, with the arrival of the documents at the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the sporting investigation was opened which ended today with a plea bargain.

Inter and Milan, in addition to Lega Serie A, have been admitted as civil parties in the criminal trial that will return to court on June 5 with the prosecution’s closing statement.

All 19 defendants – accused of extortion, criminal association with mafia aggravation and violence – have requested an abbreviated trial, with sentencing expected on June 17.
