Manchester City’s financial situation has been under scrutiny this week with the publishing of the verdict into their legal challenge against the Premier League over Associated Party Transaction rules.
The chief executive of Etihad has defended his company’s sponsorship agreements with Manchester City, insisting all deals they conduct are based on market value.
City won their legal challenge with the Premier League this week, proving that the league’s Associated Party Transaction rules were unlawful and anti-discriminatory.
Etihad are City’s stadium and front-of-shirt sponsor, and central to the case was a sponsorship deal to extend that partnership. With City proving the APT rules need changing, they may be able to now go ahead with any such deals. They are also able to claim damages for losses from the Premier League.
