Il Gimenez effect silenzia anche le campane.

Last night, at the double whistle of referee Fourneau signaling the end of the first half between Milan and Hellas Verona, the San Siro crowd did not forgive the Rossoneri for their poor and lackluster performance.

Once again guilty of an overly cautious approach, the team was deservedly booed. In the second half, thanks to Conceicao’s usual substitutions, the Devil managed—albeit with difficulty—to secure the victory, doing so through Santiago Gimenez, undoubtedly the man of the moment.

‘El Bebote’ scored his first goal at San Siro, and he did so at a moment of great need. Today, Il Giornale, in light of these events, headlines:

“The Milan team has a Santi in the Champions League race. The Gimenez effect silences even the whistles.”

The subheading reinforces what was stated in the introduction:

“The Mexican’s goal sinks Verona after an uninspiring hour from the Rossoneri.”
