Paul Pogba is set to return to football next year after his drugs ban was reduced to 18 months on appeal and the former Manchester United star is in talks over joining Marseille.
Pogba has always maintained he did not intentionally take DHEA and he successfully appealed the ban at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which reduced his suspension to 18 months. As a result, Pogba will be able to return to playing football in March 2025.
“Finally the nightmare is over,” Pogba said after the announcement. “Following the decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, I can look forward to the day when I can follow my dreams again.”
The 31-year-old remains under contract with Juventus, but is in talks with the club over terminating his deal early. “We are talking to his entourage,” Juventus CEO Maurizio Scanavino told Sky Sport Italia.
“Pogba is a great player and he certainly can still play. However, between injuries and bans, he effectively hasn’t really played for two years. These are all elements we need to evaluate and I can confirm we are talking to his staff.”
And according to reports, Marseille are already in advanced talks with Pogba and he could join the Ligue 1 club in January. The potential move would see him reunite with his former Manchester United teammate Mason Greenwood, who joined the club over the summer.
