JUST IN: Weah to support Juv but Milan win to make him….see more

George Weah, the former AC Milan striker, is a well-known Juventus fan and has shared his thoughts on the big clash tonight. However, even if the Rossoneri win, the 58-year-old will still be ‘a little bit’ happy.

Weah played for Milan between 1995 and 2000, scoring 46 goals in the process, but throughout the years he has never hid his love for Juventus. Now, his son Timothy is playing for the club and this has made the Milan-Juventus fixture even more special.

Speaking to La Repubblica, as cited by MilanNews, Weah shared his thoughts on the game and which team he will support. He didn’t hesitate to say Juventus but also stated that he would be a bit happy if Milan won, although not 100%.

Who will you support?

“I will support Juve, because it is my favourite team and Timothy plays there. I had spoken about Timo with Maldini, there was the possibility of him going to Milan, but it didn’t materialize. When my son mentioned Juve to me, I told him not to hesitate for a moment.”

How did you experience Milan-Juve?

“It was strange because I played against the team I supported. But I never backed down and I scored many goals at Juve (5 in 10 games, editor’s note.). I remember the first one, we were at San Siro and we won 2-1 with a goal of mine: I was happy but also a little sad. I can definitely say that Juve and Milan are the teams of my heart.”

What kind of match do I expect?

“I would like it to be a good match. If Juve wins I’m happy, if Milan wins I’m not 100% happy but a little bit, because Milan has done a lot for me.”

It remains to be seen who will come out on top, though Weah might not play from the first minute. Instead, Thiago Motta looks set to field a 4-2-4 formation with Weston McKennie and Teun Koopmeiners leading the line up front.
