With Milan needing a rebuild this summer, the club are going to need to find inspiration in some names, and the signing of Modric could certainly provide that. All things point in the direction of Tijjani Reijnders leaving, and whilst the Croatian’s arrival would not fix things, it could help.
In fact, according to La Repubblica (via Madrid Universal), the midfielder has ‘already said yes’ to the move to San Siro, going with his heart, which is Rossonero and has been from a young age. However, he is not the only one pushing.
The report continues, stating that the club are ‘optimistic’ of completing a deal, with Igli Tare and Massimiliano Allegri both discussing the move regularly internally.
Modric has already reportedly turned down offers from Saudi Arabia, which have come with lucrative contracts, in favour of staying in Europe, which he believes to be essential to his chances of featuring in the 2026 World Cup.
A move to Milan seems like it will be completed in a ‘matter of time’, which is a bold statement. However, all parties are seemingly on the same wavelength and with the midfielder agreeing to a one-year deal, ‘offered in principal’, it bodes well for the future.
