Jaylen Brown hints at future involvement with FC Barcelona, expressing interest in playing, investing, or serving as an ambassador for the club.
His admiration for the club became clear in the summer of 2022 when he visited Camp Nou, wore a Barca jersey, and toured the legendary stadium with Josep Cubells, the club’s director of basketball.
Brown has previously called Barcelona “one of the biggest clubs in the world.” But now, he might be interested in something even bigger — getting involved with the club in an official capacity.
During NBA All-Star Media Day, Toni Canyameras of Mundo Deportivo asked Brown whether he could see himself joining FC Barcelona in some way, either as a player or even as an investor.
“Maybe, you never know,” Brown replied. “I love traveling. I love to be like an ambassador. I speak a few different languages, maybe I’m not very fluent, but I can get around with a few different languages. I love to travel and explore the world and use the sport of basketball to bring people together.”
Spanish is one of the languages Brown is learning, and in a separate interview that day, he spoke about his progress.
“I understand Spanish, and I speak Spanish,” he said. “I am trying to improve. I am trying to work because I don’t speak it enough.”
As vice president of the NBA Players Association, Brown takes advantage of the offseason to travel the world.
Since 2022, the Catalan club has allowed the reigning NBA Finals MVP to use its facilities for training, including sessions with his former Celtics teammate Juancho Hernangomez.
With career earnings already at $433 million — plus another $226 million guaranteed through 2029 — he certainly has the resources to pursue new ventures.
