Report: Fabrizio Romano claims another Arsenal transfer target is copying Viktor Gyokeres tactic to seal a move…see more

Arsenal’s summer transfer window is now falling nicely into place, with several deals already completed and a few others now lined up.

Andrea Berta has been particularly busy, first with the moves to strengthen the depth of the team, before addressing the key areas.

Up front, Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP in a deal that could finally end their striker woes from the past few windows.

The Gunners are also ramping up their efforts to sign Noni Madueke, while Eberechi Eze remains a target for the side.

Then the attention moves back to depth, where Arsenal are looking to add a player who is seemingly taking a lesson from Viktor Gyokeres and his transfer plans.

Arsenal’s push for Viktor Gyokeres has worked, with the striker making quite an effort to help find a compromise for a deal.

The Swedish international has made it clear to Sporting that he only wants to join the Gunners, also making financial sacrifices to secure the move.

Now, with Arsenal set to sign Gyokeres, attention turns to how Berta can also sign Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia.

The defender has already agreed personal terms with Arsenal, while rejecting a new contract offer made by his current club.

According to Fabrizio Romano, he is copying the tactic laid out previously by Gyokeres.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said on Mosquera: “Mosquera told Valencia, in a similar situation to Viktor Gyokeres, that he will only go to Arsenal.

“So forget about extending his contract. Valencia offered a new deal twice to Cristhian Mosquera in the recent weeks, no chance. The player is not extending.

“He has one year left on his contract, so he wants to go to Arsenal. He wants to go now. There is the possibility he could go as a free agent next summer, but Valencia know that would make no sense for them not to make some profit.”

It certainly seems to be pushing things towards a natural conclusion, where Arsenal will sign Mosquera.

With some details still to iron out in club-to-club talks, there are some delicate days ahead in finally sealing the deal.

Mosquera’s impending arrival at Arsenal has led many to believe that he will facilitate an exit for Jakub Kiwior.

However, that may not be the case, due to them playing on opposite sides of the defence.

Instead, Mosquera may be there to replace Takehiro Tomiyasu, who left Arsenal this summer with the mutual termination of his contract.

The Japanese international was capable of covering both centre-back and right-back, the same as the incoming Spanish youth international.

Tomiyasu’s injury troubles were an obvious problem, and his exit now allows him to recover in time to find a new club.

Mosquera’s arrival adds some quality in depth, with plenty of potential to improve further in the future.
