Arsenal are one of the most attractive clubs in the world right now.
The Gunners have always been a huge brand across Europe, but since Mikel Arteta turned them into title contenders, many top players want to be there.
Martin Zubimendi rejected big clubs like Liverpool and Real Madrid for Arsenal, as did Viktor Gyokeres, who was the most prolific striker in Europe before his move to the Emirates.
Now, another big name prefers a move to Arsenal – Marc Guehi.
Guehi is certain to leave Crystal Palace in 2026.
The England defender, who has been hailed as ‘fast and aggressive’ by Lee Carsley (South London sports desk), has entered the final six months of his contract, and there has been a lot of speculation about his future.
Arsenal have been linked with a summer move for Guehi, while Liverpool and Manchester City are also in the race for his signature.
Pep Guardiola is ready to sign him right away, even though he will be available on a free transfer at the end of this season.
However, in what is bad news for the City boss, Guehi is said to favour a move to Arsenal or Liverpool over his side.
That’s according to The Athletic’s Sam Lee, who said on the Let Me Talk podcast: “I was told by somebody who knows what’s going on at City, but also I think probably Palace as well.
“He said he thinks Guehi wants to stay until the summer, and he prefers Liverpool in any case.
“And somebody else messaged me on Twitter, and I know he is very good on other clubs’ stuff. He was like, ‘he wants to stay until the summer, and he prefers Liverpool and Arsenal‘.
“I was like ‘Oh, I hadn’t heard Arsenal’. But it kind of tallies with what I had heard the night before.”
Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol has also said that he has a ‘funny feeling’ that Guehi will join Arsenal this summer.
Manchester City are Arsenal’s biggest rivals for the Premier League title.
Although Aston Villa have picked up the same number of points as the Cityzens, it is Guardiola’s side that the Gunners should be worried about in the title race.
However, City have been weakened by injuries to Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol, and they are in desperate need of a new centre-back.
Guehi is their top target, but if Arsenal can convince the Crystal Palace star to join them – either now or in the summer – City will have to look elsewhere.
That could cost them the Premier League title.
