Report: Fonseca to bring Calabria and Morata into Milan… see more

AC Milan started the season in an unforgivable way, but they are looking to make amends. Fortunately, they earned their first victory at the weekend, but with Liverpool and Inter next up, it must be progression and not regression.

Since joining the club, Paulo Fonseca has certainly not had it easy. No one expected it to be easy, though.

Already, he is facing questions about his position as head coach – questions which are not expected to go away soon – and some of his key players have starred in controversy. To top it off, Milan started the season abysmally.

With Liverpool and Inter awaiting, the next two games could be decisive in his future. Therefore, he must name an eleven consisting of leaders. Players who are ready to fight for the club, for their teammates, and him as the head coach.

With this in mind, changes are to be expected, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below). In defence, Fikayo Tomori is set to return to the starting lineup after being rested against Venezia, and Davide Calabria is currently expected to return to take Emerson Royal’s place – the Brazilian could start, though, with Fonseca yet to make a final call.

In midfield, there will be no changes, with the trio of Youssouf Fofana, Tijjani Reijnders and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all remaining.

Once again, Christian Pulisic and Leao will take their places on the wings, but this time, the line will be led by the recently returning Alvaro Morata, who has already spoken of the importance of Tuesday’s game.
