Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green had quite a lot to say in a recent interview with NBA reporter Malika Andrews. ESPN aired the sit-down just before Thursday’s highly anticipated matchup between the Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers, and it comes as no surprise that the interview has already made all sorts of waves on social media.
One of the strong statements that Green came out with was his belief that he deserves more than just one Defensive Player of the Year trophy in his cabinet.
Andrews posted a clip of the interview on Instagram and quickly turned heads among the fans.
“Draymond Green believes he is not only the DPOY — but the most important defensive player in the last 20 seasons! Hear our conversation this afternoon on NBA Today,” Andrews wrote.
Andrews drew a lot of compliments from viewers after another noteworthy interview with one of the biggest stars in the NBA.
Fantastic interview. I always enjoy watching you. You are not only beautiful but extremely talented. I also love your style,” said another.
“Good convo! 🔥” wrote a user.
As for Green’s bold statement, however, the fans were left divided.
“He’s 100% correct,” claimed a supporter.
“Gobert having 4 and Draymond only having 1 is insane,” pointed out another.
“The last 20 seasons is crazy . Dude has no respect for the game,” argued a naysayer.
He must be doing some heavy drugs thinking like that lmfao,” another accused.
Green has had his fair share of controversial statements through the years, and this is pretty much right up his alley.
The four-time All-Star is having an excellent campaign with Golden State this year, putting up averages of 9.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.1 blocks, while also knocking down 1.1 triples per game.
He is currently one of the frontrunners for the DPOY title this season, but it remains to be seen if he will be able to bring it home after it is all said and done.
