Marco Sportiello could part ways with AC Milan this summer and according to various reports, the Rossoneri have more or less reached an agreement with Pietro Terracciano to replace the 33-year-old.
Sportiello joined Milan ahead of the 2023-24 season on a free transfer from Atalanta, signing a four-year deal with the club. Given his role as deputy, however, he has only made 12 appearances for the club since.
As reported by Di Marzio yesterday, the goalkeeper is weighing up his options as Cremonese and Atalanta have expressed an interest. The former just got promoted to Serie A and could seemingly offer him a starting spot in the team.
According to Daniele Longo this afternoon, Pietro Terracciano is the most concrete option to replace Sportiello and the Rossoneri have already secured his arrival. The 35-year-old was mentioned by Di Marzio as well, but Longo has added that he’s willing to lower his salary to facilitate the move.
However, Milan will only go through with the signing after Sportiello’s potential departure. Terracciano’s contract with Fiorentina expires next summer but as he arrived on a free transfer, the most likely outcome in the event of a Milan move would be a contract termination.
It would be a shame to see Sportiello go as he’s very decent for a deputy, but perhaps that is part of the problem. At 33 years old, he still has a lot to give and a starting spot in Serie A will probably be very enticing for him.
