Igli Tare is officially the new Sporting Director of AC Milan, even though the club has not yet announced it through its official channels. Not a big deal, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport: the Albanian executive can already begin working on all fronts from now until the start of the next football season.
The former Lazio man will have to fill several gaps after a disappointing campaign. That’s why multiple meetings are scheduled at Casa Milan starting Monday, involving Giorgio Furlani and the rest of the management team.The top priority is the head coach. La Gazzetta points out that this decision will also shape the players’ intentions about staying, as there’s a sense of urgency in the locker room to understand the sporting direction of the club.
“If things are done right, we’ll stay here.” And speaking of staying… the case of Tijjani Reijnders makes sense: Milan wants him at the heart of the new project, but if the right offer comes in, he may be sold.
Tare’s goal is to build a new core group that embodies the spirit of a true Rossoneri supporter. Italian identity will be central, and the squad must be solid across the board. Milan won’t become a supermarket in the summer, but it’s hard to imagine that returning loanees will stick around. The club will look to raise funds through sales of surplus players (except Alexis Saelemaekers) to bring in some Serie A experience to a team that is still strong, but lacks consistency.
