Ismael Bennacer does not seem to be part of AC Milan’s plans for next season, and a couple of clubs have been linked with a move.
Milan made the decision to loan Bennacer to Marseille on deadline day of the winter window, but were apparently frustrated that he had asked to go there on the final day of the second straight window. Despite having an option to buy, the Ligue 1 side didn’t use it and so he returned.
As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanPress) report today, Fiorentina want to give their new head coach Stefano Pioli a revamped midfield and were initially keen on trying to land Bennacer, a player that the manager knows well.
They hit a wall so then decided to focus on Parma’s Adrian Bernabé, but the paper claims they have decided to try again for the Milan player, given his exclusive from the preseason training camp at Milanello.
Fiorentina have been monitoring the Algerian since Olympique Marseille’s decision to buy him, while Milan had already been certain since early June that Bennacer would not be used again. Plan B for them would be Inter’s Kristjan Asllani.
Nico Schira writes on X: “Real Betis have shown interest in Ismael Bennacer, who is not in AC Milan’s Plans and he will leave this summer.” So, it seems the Algerian could have a choice regarding where he goes.
