Sad news: Caldara “My biggest regret in life is…see more

Modena defender Mattia Caldara gave an interview to Corriere della Sera, discussing his career so far and his new start with the yellow-blue club.

Among the topics he covered was his time at Milan: here are his thoughts.

“I came from Juventus with Higuain, and in two years at Atalanta, I scored 10 goals and debuted for the national team. The club took us up to the terrace in Piazza Duomo in front of the fans. It was so embarrassing; even doing interviews is hard for me. Milan is the greatest regret of my life.”

On his injuries, Caldara said:

“During a training run, I tore my Achilles tendon. The surgeon saw that it was only attached by 10%, so he didn’t operate. I stayed home with a cast for 50 days. When I returned to the field, Musacchio was on a yellow card suspension. Finally, I thought it was my moment. Two days before the game, in a clash with Borini, I tore my ACL. It was a terrible blow.”

On his Serie A debut with Milan in May against Salernitana:

“In the end, I thanked the doctors. They were the most disappointed when I couldn’t recover. The coach was putting pressure: ‘Why isn’t he ready yet?'”
