Sad News: Kadyn Proctor opens up on why he…See more

According to Kadyn Proctor, at first, they weren’t serious about getting back together. Proctor, an offensive tackle who was a freshman All-American, moved to Iowa in January with great fanfare after leaving Alabama. It was a heartbreaking defeat for the Crimson Tide, who were still adjusting to Nick Saban’s retirement and had a squad in flux, and a homecoming for the youngster who grew up outside of Des Moines and developed into the highest rated recruit in state history. Despite Proctor’s friend and fellow lineman leaving, Wilkin Formby, Proctor’s previous teammate, remained unfazed and told him over the phone, “You’re going to come back, man.”

Proctor remembered, “We used to joke around all the time, and then it just became real.” One of the most well-known transfers in college football history required a number of circumstances to come together. Proctor is also offering his perspective on the matter for the first time. He shared candid information regarding his mental state after Saban’s departure, his doubts immediately after landing in Iowa, and his choice to return to Alabama in an exclusive interview with 247Sports.

But beyond all else at this moment, he feels humbled. “It’s something I regret,” he declared. It’s most likely the worst choice I’ve ever made in my life. I really wasn’t giving it much thought since, looking back, I had a lot of people who loved me here and were trying to convince me that this was the ideal location for me. I was not actually sitting there and listening to Coach [Kalen] DeBoer and the staff as they tried to persuade me to stay. I was determined to return home and there was no way I could be one.

“That even came from my parents, but they just said, ‘Well, you’ll have to find out for yourself.'” And that’s precisely what took place. I acknowledged them. “You’re right,” I said. All I can do is acknowledge that you’re correct and I was mistaken.” Proctor would have more uncomfortable conversations after that persuaded otherwise.

He drove to Alabama’s football facilities, walked directly to DeBoer’s office, and apologized in person as soon as he stepped through the transfer link. “I’m sorry for not hearing y’all out,” he replied. “I’m ready to get back and do everything for this team.” Proctor let out a sigh.

It was humbling because I’m not really the type of person to do that,” he stated. “But I felt like that was the right thing to do because I realized I really didn’t listen.” He also apologized to his comrades. And he’s grateful that they welcomed him back with open arms after accepting it. During a break last month, he, Formby, and All-SEC guard Tyler Booker traveled to OL Masterminds to train. Proctor stated, “I just want everyone to know that I’m ready to go.” “They’re going to see a different person.”
